Antique 19th Century original oil on panel of an old man in contemplation.
The old man is seated and holds a red handkerchief, to his right a side table with reading book and spectacles. He appears to be in deep thought or lament.
The painting is unsigned but appears to have been executed by a very proficient hand, the brush strokes used on his beard, form of hands and facial features particularly stand out.
The painting is in a quality gilt wood frame and has a gallery label to verso, would benefit light restoration or enjoyed as is.
