A late 19th Century Chinese Yoke Back Elm Armchair c1880.
Beautiful deep rich colour and patina, featuring a yoke shaped top rail with neck rest above a vertical solid splat embellished by a carved circular design, solid elm seat flanked by shaped arms.
In ancient China the high back design symbolised wealth and grandeur to both the owner and any person invited to sit in them.
Measurements:
118cm height x 56cm wide x 44cm deep (seat height 51.5cm).
Overall in excellent solid stable condition, evidence of historical restoration to back splat.
