Here we have a rather unusual antique, oil on panel painting featuring a blind musician playing Northumbrian pipes.
The blind musician, seated, plays for a young boy and a rather sullen looking woman. A small dog laps at a water bowl beneath his chair whilst the young boy watches the piper play. I particularly like how the woman standing behind the piper is staring straight ahead and her eyes, so cutting, almost go right through you.
